Secureexpertcleaner Is Bad Housekeeping

In all honesty, having Secureexpertcleaner to clean up your computer is more like having a pig clean your house. It not only doesn’t work, it creates more of a mess. This program wasn’t made to clean anything except your bank account. In fact, it will make your computer dirty to do it.

This software is actually what is called a corrupt security tool. Built to have the appearance of a useful anti-malware package, it actually infects your computer to convince you that you need to buy its overpriced product. I can’t keep you from getting infected by this article, but I can hopefully keep you from giving up your credit card information to these bandits.

These kinds of programs tend to transmit to your computer in one of two ways. One way is by inhabiting infected websites. These sites are usually clones of legitimate sites. They’re more often than not geared towards those seeking adult entertainment like pornography and gambling, but can also infect online pharmacies or virtually any other website. Additionally, every rogue security tool has a home page where you can get infected, to which you may be redirected by other “sister” infections.

Occasionally, a savvy user may be able to know these sites once they land on them, because the URL and the address listed on the page may be different. This isn’t always the case, however; sometimes they do match. Ultimately, the only assurance any user really has is whatever their anti-spyware software guarantees. Anything short of 100% is falling short.

Another frequent method of transmission is through infected downloads. These are often found at peer to peer, or P2P for short, file sharing sites and in pirated downloads. The practice of Internet piracy should be avoided, not just for reasons of avoiding corrupt security tools. You can also get viruses, worms and trojans this way. It’s a classic trait of pirating that you risk infection.

Besides that, Internet piracy is illegal in the United States. It is punishable by Federal law, not just local. The risk of having the FBI showing up to arrest you should make free movies and music not worth it. Some people still dare it, and it’s all fun and games until you’re taken away in cuffs.

Nearly every corrupt program infection goes the same way, just wearing different skins. First, after you click the fateful button, the infection starts and you get a pop up. This pop up “warning screen” will tell you that you have an infection, and may show you a count of how many files are “infected.” These are temporary files, not infections.

Then you will get redirected to the home page, and the program will tell you that you need to download their program to clean this infection. You get a button for “Yes” and one for “No,” but the “No” button seems to be broken. Actually, they just won’t take no for an answer, and the last thing you want to do is say yes. This is a rip off, and there’s nothing stopping them from taking more, maybe everything. Do yourself a favor and get a real security program.
