EnBrowser Snack Man – Trouble for You and Your Computer
Today I’m going to share a story of a problem I had, and what I did to fix it. First I’ll tell you the unthinking thing I did to cause the problem. I saw a Pac Man type game that said it was “free” to download and play. I loved playing Pac Man growing up, so I downloaded and installed it. Big mistake!
I couldn’t play the game because of all the pop-ups. Not only was I flooded with pop-ups, but I was also being hounded to install PacerD, which I later found out is a Trojan. My system’s speed slowed down to a crawl, and so did my Internet speed. I knew I had to do something. In order to save my computer and my sanity, I started doing research to see just how much trouble I was in and to see what I needed to do to fix my problem.
I found out that enBrowser Snack Man installs 26 different adware programs, 4 Trojans, and a worm. I realized I was in a lot of trouble at this point. Until all this happened, I thought of adware as just a nuisance. I have since changed my mind. I found out that adware can hog your computer’s resources, slowing it to a crawl and in some cases sending your information to outside sources.
Consequently, I ran my antivirus and found it did nothing about this problem. After doing some research I found I had to have an anti-spyware program, as those are the programs that deal with adware, spyware, Trojans, and other malware. I also found out that most anti-spyware only removes 80-90% of the infections, many times leaving the infection to reinstall itself on your computer at reboot.
